Lake Zumbra Fourth of July

Almost every Fourth of July we take a trip to Minnesota to celebrate with my family at my parents lake home. This year was no exception and we had a blast. It was especially fun to watch Alexander bond with his cousin Calvin. They turned into little buds and often followed each other around. Most exciting, was to see my youngest sister, Sarah and her little baby bump. She and Ben are expecting their first baby this December! More cousins!!! I apologize in advance for the plethora of pictures.

Aiden went to his first Twins game with Grandpa. They made it six innings. Go Twins!

Both kids enjoyed the lake; driving the boat, tubing and fishing. Aiden caught his first fish and many more followed. In fact, with the help of my Uncle Rory he may have caught the most fish out of everyone! While he loved fishing, he was a little concerned about the poor fishy getting "ouchies" from the hook. We all got lots of hard play by the lake. Thanks especially to my Aunt Ann for wearing out little Aiden out!

The morning of the Fourth traditionally starts with the neighborhood kids parade. Calvin and Alexander rode in strollers while lucky Aiden drove Calvin's Audi. Spoiled! He was grinning ear to ear needless to say. In afternoon my parents always host a big lakeside bash with delicious smoked ribs and my brother in law Trevor's home brewed beer.

We cannot forgot a Fourth of July staple, fire works! My Dad put on an incredible show off the dock. A remote control detonator and all, it looked like Disneyland! There is always a firework "competition" between my Dad and the neighbor across the lake. Somehow every year they seem to outdo us, but this year I am pretty confident we had them beat!!!
