Sleep Update

We are still sleep training and I must say it has been a roller coaster ride. Some nights Aiden will sleep for an eight hour stretch only to sleep for one or two the next. We still cannot put him down awake but it is a much easier and faster process to place him in his crib; even Dad and our babysitter can do it. Our nap schedule is also now back on track giving me three 45 minute to two hour breaks a day, which is such a treat. Although Aiden is inconsistent with his sleep it is still a HUGE improvement. There are quite a few variables assisting the progress so I can't say which factors most heavily, but for now we are not changing anything. Aside from crying it out some contributing changes have been lots of stroller rides for fresh air, formula/bottle feeding and a new hokey sleep outfit called "Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit" which makes Aiden looks like the Michelin man. When you are a tired and desperate parent you will try anything - and hey, Aiden has got some of his best sleep in it!

The last three nights Aiden has slept until 4-5:00a and then gone back to sleep after a feeding for another hour or two. GO AIDEN! Hopefully this trend continues. Our next goal is to teach Aiden to put himself to sleep. Sadly, Mommy also now needs to be sleep trained. After months of continual waking I have a hard time making it though the night even if Aiden does!

One BIG downside of sleep training is that it does not allow for much family or husband and wife time. Aiden has a strict 7:00p bedtime, with mine usually following around 9:00p. Jason typically arrives home from work between 6-7:00p when playtime is over or Aiden is already asleep missing him all together. This makes me incredibly grateful I am able to be a Stay at Home Mom. Weekends have a whole new meaning and I look forward to each and every one of them so we can spend time with Dad!
